Human Relations A Personal Experience Free Essays

Human Relations: A Personal Experience Allison R. West Introduction to Graduate Studies in Human Relations 12/4/13 While perusing Modern Human Relations at Work I discovered data that I basically expected to discover in a book regarding this matter. I discovered some particular examinations that I had not found out about previously and beliefs that I saw as evident in principle, yet less by and by. We will compose a custom exposition test on Human Relations: A Personal Experience or then again any comparable theme just for you Request Now The standard inquiries of whether a glad laborer is a gainful specialist and do open entryway approaches work were tended to. Ten years back I would have perused this reading material in an entirely different way, with a totally unexpected erspective in comparison to I do today. I may have seen the standards of authoritative human relations with an expectation that individuals can really work in situations where there are bosses and subordinates can keep up a feeling of regard and mankind towards each other, yet that has not generally been my experience. The old articulation â€Å"it’s desolate at the top† can be deciphered in a few different ways; there are relatively few big enchiladas out there, or that the higher you go the less time you need to blend with the humble, or the less you truly care to, or the misinformed conviction that you ought to have a willful division . Whatever the significance or reason one thing is consistent with my understanding; associations are really not tactless social orders and keeping in mind that they, in principle, ought to comprehend human relations superior to anybody, they practice almost no of what they maintain to lecture. I don't intend to give the feeling that I don't comprehend the requirement for pecking orders and the significant job they play in proficient associations, it isn't the worldview, yet the players, with which I take issue. In this paper I might want to address the two territories that were of most noteworthy enthusiasm to me as they apply to my encounters working inside huge associations. The main territory alluded to the essentials of human relations and incorporated an investigation led by the Hawthorne plant of Western Electric in Illinois that I discovered fascinating. The second examined the administration of contention among people and associations and included activities that organizations can use to manufacture more grounded connections between botn I wou d like to catch my considerations on these regions trom both hypothetical and down to earth points of view. The book characterized human relations as follows: â€Å"The process by which the executives carries laborers into contact with the association so that the destinations of oth bunches are accomplished is human relations† (pg. 5) and takes the perspective of the administrator. While the organization and the laborer share a typical reason for being effective and bringing in cash, the specialist likewise has objectives that the organization could conceivably know about or worried about. Effective human relations tends to both the organization and the laborer and finds a palatable answer for all needs. This, as I would see it, is the place most organizations don’t appear to have the option to take care of business. It isn't sufficient for an association to state that they care about their laborers, what their needs are, what their suppositions are and how they can best utilize their gifts to nhance the association, there must be finish and this is the thing that normally doesn't occur. You just need to take a gander at a company’s turnover of workers to get a smart thought of their demeanor towards human relations. I went through 10 years working for an association that really couldn't have cared less at about their laborers, however they purported to. It is my involvement in this specific association, which I will consider Agency X that I will allude in this paper. Organization X has a high turnover for a few reasons, one of which is the measure of pressure that accompanies the Job and the econd is the reaction, or scarcity in that department, with respect to the office to attempt to comprehend, lighten, or even recognize the way that the requirements of the laborers are not being met. So while I read through the book, I guess I was progressively Jaded and had a more critical mentality than I ought to have, however I really accept that couple of organizations really care about human relations by and by. I found the Hawthorne examines fascinating in that it demonstrated that a specialist who feels that they are esteemed and has some degree of relationship with those they work with is profitable and that the nature of the management they get impacts the uality and amount of their work (pg. 9). At the point when I worked for Agency X I was a caseworker for a long time and had an administrator who genuinely minded and was worried for the prosperity of her laborers and the effect the Job was having on us. This manager worked admirably of protecting us from the bureaucratic issues that originated from above. She accepted that the nature of administrations to customers and the necessities of the laborers were both similarly as significant. Following 4 years she changed Jobs and I was elevated to her position, it was at this equivalent time that our agreement was acquired by another enormous office and out of nowhere things changed. While I kept on overseeing in the manner I had been instructed, guaranteeing that what should have been done was done, that customers were getting the most ideal administrations and that laborers were not wearing out and were dealing with themselves I started to see the distinctions in field work and center administration. I was blamed for indulging my laborers at whatever point I attempted to make things somewhat simpler for them. Note that we worked with manhandled youngsters and families in unpredictable circumstances that necessary a gigantic measure of movement and field time (we were not kid government assistance). Let me give a case of a laborer who was near wearing out. We had both been at a home in the nation where the circumstance got delicate and unstable and we concluded that it was ideal to leave. After we had driven away (we took separate vehicles) my specialist headed over to the roadside and just stayed there. I pulled in behind ner and Just watched tor a tew seconds thinking about whether she would escape the vehicle, yet she didn't. I approached her window to discover her in tears. I permitted her to vent her emotions and dissatisfactions lastly I recommended to her that she return home for the remainder of the day (it was early Friday evening) and invest energy with her girls and not consider work until Monday morning. I told my specialist that we would meet in my office on the Monday and discussion about what we expected to do ensure her needs and the necessities of the customer were being met. While this was a suitable answer for me, I was then â€Å"counseled† as I advised my laborer to return home when she had not rounded out a â€Å"request for leave† structure. That was my first sign that Agency X couldn't have cared less at about my laborer, all they thought about was a bit of paper that they would not have gotten until timesheets were turned in the next week in any case. So I endured that shot, marked y bit of paper that said I was an awful director that day and never let out the slightest peep to my laborer about it. Human relations works at a laborer level and even at a center administration level on the off chance that you have a chief who cares at all about you, however it is just a motto on a banner for those in upper administration. The HR model illustrated on page 11 of our book gives 4 frameworks that an office can fall into when managing human relations. I feel that an office can fall into a few frameworks one after another. I think those in center administration despite everything consider their to be as important resources that ought not be handily disposed of. Center anagement have better associations with their laborers and presumably fall between framework 3 (consultive majority rule) and framework 4 (participative popularity based) contingent upon to what extent the subordinate and predominant have been cooperating. Upper administration would have you accept that their office is participative popularity based, however they are, as a general rule, altruistic dictatorial (framework 2) where loftiness and discipline are the primary staples of the executives. It was constrained upon me ordinarily that I should isolate myself from my laborers and ensure they comprehended we were â€Å"not the same†. While I comprehend that it isn't generally insightful for managers o be companions with laborers, we don't have to sit in ivory towers looking down on them either. There is a fair compromise that upper administration disregard. As I advanced in Agency X, I was elevated again to Regional Director and was liable for administrations every one of the 16 districts in Southwest Oklahoma. This was my solitary involvement in upper administration and I want to â€Å"go there† once more. The most effective method to refer to Human Relations: A Personal Experience, Papers

This book highlights a historical memoir of a well-known Venetian explorer named Marco Polo but focuses around a specific dialogue and a series of stories shared between Kublai Khan, emperor of Mongolia, and his right-hand man Polo in the late 1200’s. This concept of writing emphasizes the aspects of humanity and social consequences in generic city makeup and the way we become trapped in the metaphorical â€Å"inferno of living†. Difficulty in verbal communication meant that the two of them had to communicate through symbolic gestures, movements, pictures and objects to correspond with each other. In the beginning of the book, Marco Polo speaks of the cities, of which he visits, in great detail to Khan. The Emperor continues to listen but questions Polo’s ideas and memories when he begins to notice a pattern in his accounts and queries their authenticity. Introduction. Sleep Deprivation Is A Condition That Many

Introduction Sleep deprivation is a condition that many individuals have faced at some point in their life. The National Institute of Health categorizes sleep complications into two conditions known as sleep deprivation and sleep deficiency. According to the National Institute of Health an individual is experiencing sleep deprivation or deficiency if they haven t received the adequate amount of sleep or if they do not sleep well (National Institute of Health, 2007). An adult should receive approximately 7-8 hours of sleep per night in order to get a full night’s rest. About 70.6 percent of college students worldwide report obtaining less than eight hours of sleep, therefore they are considered sleep deprived (Hershner and Chervin,†¦show more content†¦Homeostatic process S is when the body is reliant on the accumulation of sleep-inducing (hypnogenic) substance in the brain, so while the need for sleep increases the wakefulness also continues (Goel, 2017). Circadian process C is wh en the body suggests control of an â€Å"endogenous circadian pacemaker,† which is the body’s internal process and alertness levels. Both processes impact the wake/sleep cycle. When a person gets about seven to eight hours of sleep you hit a stage of sleep called REM sleep, which is the last stage of sleep (Nevid, 2013, p. 173). â€Å"REM sleep normally occurs every 90-120 minutes approximately 4-5 times in a typical night, with each REM sleep period growing progressively longer, with the last episode near rise time† (Hershner, 2014). When an individual lacks a full night of sleep they may become a little â€Å"groggy† the next day, but will still be able to push through the day. Affects from Sleep Deprivation In addition, sleep deprivation slows down a person’s reaction time, impairs their attention, concentration, and problem solving ability, which makes it difficult for remembering things. â€Å"As many as 15 percent of Americans don’t get the help they need because of lifestyle factors, such as demanding work schedules and caregiving responsibilities† (Minerd Jasmer, 2006). A Blazin Summer Day Essay Example For Students

A Blazin Summer Day Essay Robyn FletcherA Blazin Summer DayAudience: Anyone trying to cook and do something else at the same time. The warm, sunny July day started out just like any other day during the summer of 91. My mother and father had left for work and left my two brothers Donnie 19 and Andre 18 to baby-sit me. We woke up around 9:30 AM, and got dressed to go to the store to pick up the items for lunch. We returned home at 11:15 A. M. I ran off to my room to catch the last 45 min of The Young and the Restless. Donnie went to the kitchen to begin preparation for lunch. At 11:30 while in the kitchen preparing the hamburger meat, and heating the grease for the tarter tots, Andre asked him to cut his hair. Donnie said, sure go get the stuff ready. While the grease was heating Donnie and Andre went into the bathroom to cut hair. By 11:45 they were done cutting each others hair and Donnie walked into the kitchen, while Andre cleaned up the bathroom. As soon as Donnie placed a handful of tarter tots into the grease it bubbled up and over the pot and on to the stove. Once on the stove the grease and fire contacte d each other, it ignited the stove on fire. From the stove it spread over the linoleum counter top and crawled up the wall above the stove. The fire spread across the ceiling and over to the opposing wall, burning the curtains on the window. It stopped and reversed directions to the adjoining wall on the left. It burnt a small enough hole to go between the wall and the foundation to burn the wires to the dishwasher. While this was happening Donnie had picked up the pot, still on fire, with pot holders, and tried to throw it out the back door, but failed because the gate was locked. Next he tried to make it to the front door about 100 feet from the back door, but didn’t make it because the pot holders caught on fire and were burning his hands. He dropped the pot, still on fire next to yellow and brown chair in the living room. He then proceed to run out side to get the water house and bring it into the house to put on the pot, but that just made things worse. Andre, hearing al l the noise ran out of the bathroom to see what was going on. He yelled for me to get out of the house, and runs into the kitchen. I didn’t really know what was going on, I too had heard the noise but didn’t pay attention because it was my brother. When Andre yelled for me to leave the house I knew something was wrong. There was nothing that I could do but stand at the door and watch what was going on. While Donnie made several attempt to put the fire out I was laughing to myself, because he was doing weird and stupid things. I wasn’t thinking about calling for help or that someone might seriously be hurt, all I wanted to know was what was happening. The walls, curtains, and dishwasher were still on fire. He, Andre, grabbed the baking soda and ran into the living room to put out the pot. Meanwhile Donnie took the hose to the kitchen and tried to put the walls out, but that didn’t work. Andre pulled Donnie back and started throwing Baking soda on the walls and the counter until the fire was out. With the fire out, we still had an extremely hot pot on the floor burning a hole in it. Donnie picked up the pot, and took it outside burning his hand even worse. The only other damage the pot did was scorch the chair. The walls in the kitchen were pitch black and we had no electricity in the front half the house or the basement. Donnie called his girlfriend at work to come and help us clean up the mess. He then called his best-friend to takes him to the doctor to treat his hand. The only damage to the whole house was the kitchen and no power in the front half of the house. We are lucky because sitting right next to the stove was a can of Pam, and it didn’t exploded like it could make the situation worse. We tried to clean the house up as much as we could, but after everything was done and said we were all laughing. The rest of the summer was spent at what used to be called the Ramada Inn on 87th and 435, while they repainted the whole house and remodeled the kitchen. We were all worried that our parents would be upset, but they surprised us and were happy that no one was seriously hurt. To this day we make jokes about that day and my parents tell my brother A watched pot never boils. I had heard my mother say that time and time before, but I never knew what it meant until that day. Now looking back on that day I realize that I should be thankful that no one was hurt and that the fire didn’t burn the whole house down. I guess laughing was my way of dealing with all the mixed emotion that I was feeling at the time. .u9cf67a7081703d88b116cce82918771e , .u9cf67a7081703d88b116cce82918771e .postImageUrl , .u9cf67a7081703d88b116cce82918771e .centered-text-area { min-height: 80px; position: relative; } .u9cf67a7081703d88b116cce82918771e , .u9cf67a7081703d88b116cce82918771e:hover , .u9cf67a7081703d88b116cce82918771e:visited , .u9cf67a7081703d88b116cce82918771e:active { border:0!important; } .u9cf67a7081703d88b116cce82918771e .clearfix:after { content: ""; display: table; clear: both; } .u9cf67a7081703d88b116cce82918771e { display: block; transition: background-color 250ms; webkit-transition: background-color 250ms; width: 100%; opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; background-color: #95A5A6; } .u9cf67a7081703d88b116cce82918771e:active , .u9cf67a7081703d88b116cce82918771e:hover { opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; background-color: #2C3E50; } .u9cf67a7081703d88b116cce82918771e .centered-text-area { width: 100%; position: relative ; } .u9cf67a7081703d88b116cce82918771e .ctaText { border-bottom: 0 solid #fff; color: #2980B9; font-size: 16px; font-weight: bold; margin: 0; padding: 0; text-decoration: underline; } .u9cf67a7081703d88b116cce82918771e .postTitle { color: #FFFFFF; font-size: 16px; font-weight: 600; margin: 0; padding: 0; width: 100%; } .u9cf67a7081703d88b116cce82918771e .ctaButton { background-color: #7F8C8D!important; color: #2980B9; border: none; border-radius: 3px; box-shadow: none; font-size: 14px; font-weight: bold; line-height: 26px; moz-border-radius: 3px; text-align: center; text-decoration: none; text-shadow: none; width: 80px; min-height: 80px; background: url(https://artscolumbia.org/wp-content/plugins/intelly-related-posts/assets/images/simple-arrow.png)no-repeat; position: absolute; right: 0; top: 0; } .u9cf67a7081703d88b116cce82918771e:hover .ctaButton { background-color: #34495E!important; } .u9cf67a7081703d88b116cce82918771e .centered-text { display: table; height: 80px; padding-left : 18px; top: 0; } .u9cf67a7081703d88b116cce82918771e .u9cf67a7081703d88b116cce82918771e-content { display: table-cell; margin: 0; padding: 0; padding-right: 108px; position: relative; vertical-align: middle; width: 100%; } .u9cf67a7081703d88b116cce82918771e:after { content: ""; display: block; clear: both; } READ: Christopher Columbus EssayCreative Writing

The Adventures Of Huckleberry Finn Essay Paper Example For Students

The Adventures Of Huckleberry Finn Essay Paper Huck is very responsive to the beauty of the natural world about him. He uses vivid imagery to describe nature in a peculiar way, which one can even consider out of character for him. His word choice, general attitude, use of literary devices, and the use of words which describe the sounds as they happened, all add to his vivid description of the summer storm. Hucks reaction is unusual because up to this point in the story the impression of Huck that the reader has is one of a wild, uneducated boy running away from home. The reader does not expect Huck to analyze nature by using thought provoking similes Hucks use of action words contribute greatly to the descriptiveness of his account of the summer storm. These words add to the thrust and movement of his description. Directly it begun to rainrained like all furynever see the wind blow so (43). and the rain would thrash along by so thick.blast of wind.. (43+44). These descriptions keep the description moving and keeps the interest of the reader. They invoke common experiences that everyone has experienced. After reading these action words, the reader begins to develop a image of what it was like to be Huck at that point. This image is further aided by other factors. We will write a custom essay on The Adventures Of Huckleberry Finn Paper specifically for you for only $16.38 $13.9/page Order now The other factors that influence the image the reader perceives are: word use, literary devices, allusions to common experiences, and specific details. Some of the specific details include use of color and descriptions of the environment. Vivid descriptions such as, It would get so dark that it looked all blue-black outside, and lovely; and the rain would thrash along by so thick that the trees off a little ways looked dim and spider-webby; and here would come a blast of wind that would bend the trees down and turn up the pale underside of the leaves; and then a perfect ripper of a gust would follow along and set the branches to tossing their arms as if they was just wild; and next, when it was just about the bluest and blackest — fst! It was as bright as glory, and youd have a little glimpse of treetops a-plunging about away off yonder in the storm, hundreds of yards further than you could see before; dark as sin again in a second, and now youd hear the thunder let go with an awful crash, and then go rumbling, grumbling, tumbling, down the sky towards the under side of the world, like rolling empty barrels down-stairs — where its long stairs and they bounce a good deal, you know (44). That one sentence encompasses all of the techniques and provides an excellent description. It uses personification, alliteration, allusions, personification, and others. Huck uses several onomatopoeias in his description of the storm. In addition to painting a picture in the readers mind, because of his use of onomatopoeias, the reader can also experience and hear the scene and the storm as if he/she were actually there. Huck uses four words to describe how thunder sounded. The first is fst, when it was just about the bluest and blackest fst! It was as bright as glory (44). The other three are: rumbling, grumbling, and tumbling. and now youd hear the thunder let go with an awful crash, and then go rumbling, grumbling, tumbling, down the sky towards the under side of the world (44). Huck then uses one simile in paricular to further exemplify the sound of the thunder and to create a better scene for the reader. tumbling, down the sky towards the under side of the world, like rolling empty barrels down-stairs — where its long stairs and they bounce a good deal, you know (44). This simile enhances this description of the storm in a few ways. The last part, you know (44) adds more character to the description. It is beginning to sound more like a child, Huck. Also, anyone can imagine what rolling barrels down a long set of stairs sound like and when the reader really thinks about it, he/she realizes that, that is what thunder sounds like. .u51be2aedea6dc5b2ecbe043b695130d7 , .u51be2aedea6dc5b2ecbe043b695130d7 .postImageUrl , .u51be2aedea6dc5b2ecbe043b695130d7 .centered-text-area { min-height: 80px; position: relative; } .u51be2aedea6dc5b2ecbe043b695130d7 , .u51be2aedea6dc5b2ecbe043b695130d7:hover , .u51be2aedea6dc5b2ecbe043b695130d7:visited , .u51be2aedea6dc5b2ecbe043b695130d7:active { border:0!important; } .u51be2aedea6dc5b2ecbe043b695130d7 .clearfix:after { content: ""; display: table; clear: both; } .u51be2aedea6dc5b2ecbe043b695130d7 { display: block; transition: background-color 250ms; webkit-transition: background-color 250ms; width: 100%; opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; background-color: #95A5A6; } .u51be2aedea6dc5b2ecbe043b695130d7:active , .u51be2aedea6dc5b2ecbe043b695130d7:hover { opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; background-color: #2C3E50; } .u51be2aedea6dc5b2ecbe043b695130d7 .centered-text-area { width: 100%; position: relative ; } .u51be2aedea6dc5b2ecbe043b695130d7 .ctaText { border-bottom: 0 solid #fff; color: #2980B9; font-size: 16px; font-weight: bold; margin: 0; padding: 0; text-decoration: underline; } .u51be2aedea6dc5b2ecbe043b695130d7 .postTitle { color: #FFFFFF; font-size: 16px; font-weight: 600; margin: 0; padding: 0; width: 100%; } .u51be2aedea6dc5b2ecbe043b695130d7 .ctaButton { background-color: #7F8C8D!important; color: #2980B9; border: none; border-radius: 3px; box-shadow: none; font-size: 14px; font-weight: bold; line-height: 26px; moz-border-radius: 3px; text-align: center; text-decoration: none; text-shadow: none; width: 80px; min-height: 80px; background: url(https://artscolumbia.org/wp-content/plugins/intelly-related-posts/assets/images/simple-arrow.png)no-repeat; position: absolute; right: 0; top: 0; } .u51be2aedea6dc5b2ecbe043b695130d7:hover .ctaButton { background-color: #34495E!important; } .u51be2aedea6dc5b2ecbe043b695130d7 .centered-text { display: table; height: 80px; padding-left : 18px; top: 0; } .u51be2aedea6dc5b2ecbe043b695130d7 .u51be2aedea6dc5b2ecbe043b695130d7-content { display: table-cell; margin: 0; padding: 0; padding-right: 108px; position: relative; vertical-align: middle; width: 100%; } .u51be2aedea6dc5b2ecbe043b695130d7:after { content: ""; display: block; clear: both; } READ: Drug addiction and abuse EssayHucks vivid description of thunder, both visually and audibly, add to his personality and allows the reader to experience a different side of Huck. Huck is not just a naive child who is oblivious to natural wonders. He is responsive to the beauty of the natural world about him. There is more to him then meets the eye. Huck shows the reader this by his choice of words and the way in which he describes the summer storm. His uses literary devices to his advantage and to further his points. Huck shows he is not a shallow character and can be serious if he wants to.

Ulterior and Alterior

Ulterior and Alterior Ulterior and Alterior Ulterior and Alterior By Maeve Maddox A reader brought alterior to my attention by asking if a use of â€Å"ulterior motive† he read in an article should have been â€Å"alterior motive.† Although I found several speculative â€Å"definitions† of alterior on various sites, neither the OED nor Merriam-Webster offers an entry for this word. Because it seems always to occur with motive or motives, I conclude that alterior is an error for ulterior. The adjective ulterior derives from Latin ulterior: â€Å"further, more distant.† An ulterior motive is one that lies beyond the apparent motive. For example, when a popular product develops a feature that makes the product more convenient, the apparent motive is to make the product easier for the customer to use. The ulterior motive is to earn more money by selling more merchandise. The mistaken use of alterior is especially common on sites related to emotional involvements, television, sports, and political opinion. Here are some examples, with corrections: INCORRECT: Im not convinced hes doing anything out of the kindness of his heart for women or anyone. Feels like he always has alterior motives.- Soap opera blog. CORRECT : Im not convinced hes doing anything out of the kindness of his heart for women or anyone. Feels like he always has ulterior motives. INCORRECT: The thing that bothers me the most is that there is no honesty or real emotion into anything that they say. Everything they say has an alterior motive.- Therapy blog. CORRECT : The thing that bothers me the most is that there is no honesty or real emotion in anything that they say. Everything they say has an ulterior motive. INCORRECT: People like to put on fronts and might have alterior motives when you dont have a shared history that can easily fool you.- Quora user. CORRECT : People like to put on fronts and might have ulterior motives when you dont have a shared history that can easily fool you. INCORRECT: The [remarks of] the salesman sounded like they came from a politician. Basketball Coaching

Coaches have to love the game. The team reflects the coach, if he’s successful so will you be. The coach needs to be disciplined and teach the fundamentals of the game. They should instill moral values into the team. Basic basketball will make the team better. Basic basketball includes ball handling, proper form, offense, and etc. It may seem boring and stupid but it really makes you a better team and player. Players want a coach who will teach them the game. If the coach is a stickler for defense, your team can beat anyone. The fundamentals of defense can make a good team great and lower tier teams competitive. The defense will lead to offense and things will come easier for your team. Once you’ve mastered the basics the goals that have been set for the team will seem reachable and easier. The confidence of the team will sky rocket and results will follow. â€Å"I teach the kids every aspect of the game and the basics that will make them successful,† said Coach Mike. Your coach needs to be dedicated and love the game. â€Å"I’m a gym rat, I’ll do anything to get into the gym and help the girls,† continued Coach Mike. You need to make touch decisions and sacrifices to be successful. Nothing comes easily especially in this profession. You have to outwork your opposition and be prepared. Being in the gym and loving the game gives you many advantages over other coaches. Being around the game teaches you more and makes you aware of every situation. Yelling isn’t the only way to motivate players. There are many other ways to do so. Sometimes yelling may do more harm than good and hurt the teams psyche. Players will start to resent the coach and start to distance themselves. Once the morale and confidence is broken down the team will start to suffer the consequences. There are certain times when yelling is appropriate but it shouldn’t be used all the time and coaches should never single players out in front of the entire team. The coach should yell for a purpose, but also bring your confidence up at the same time and encourage you to do better. There shouldn’t be false hope put into player’s heads because of the coach’s ego. Players would start to lose respect for him. They really listen to what the coaches have to tell them and take it to heart. It really means a lot to them what you tell them. One of the reasons John Wooden was successful as a basketball coach was because he was the best teacher at the sport and taught his players life skills. He didn’t win ten national championships because he had talent. He won because he taught fundamentals and basic basketball. He instilled in his players that fundamentals is the key to success. To this day his players still use what he taught them and take that with them as they move on with their lives. He was a coach and a father to the players. He always compared how life was like basketball and the players understood what he meant. John Wooden made the Pyramid of Success. The Pyramid of Success consists of twenty-five behaviors that Wooden felt you needed to be successful in not only basketball, but also in life. The top two behaviors are faith and patience. He followed those behaviors and taught his players those behaviors until his dying days. Phil Jackson is also another great coach. He is unique just like John Wooden. They never felt the need to yell. Jackson is the Zen Master and isn’t a yeller. He’s unique because unlike most coaches he trusts his team and lets them play instead of calling timeouts when his team gets into ruts. Most coaches would be infuriated and quickly call a timeout but not him. He sits back and lets them play through difficult periods. He doesn’t coach every player the same and understands the needs of what each player needs to succeed. Jackson knows his players and all their strengths and weaknesses. Another wonderful thing is he taught the two best players the game has ever had to offer: Michael Jordan and Kobe Bryant, that playing within the concept of the team is the only way to win. An excellent leader leads to an excellent coach. With the confidence and swagger that they have to offer it rubs off on the team. The team needs someone to follow and look up to. Players have to respect the coach. Respect is a major aspect of the game. The team should want to live and die by the coach. Conducting a great practice is a great aspect of any coach. Practice should be conducted with the needs of the team and show progress throughout the year. It is a way for coaches to see what you can bring to the team. Practice makes perfect and for every coach they live and die by that saying. All in all the coach is the catalyst to the team. They are everything to the team and the team thrives off their energy. The personality of the team reflects the coach. Coaches that drill the basics and fundamentals into the team are very successful. The team will succeed as a whole and improve as the season moves along. Basketball Coaching Coaches have to love the game. The team reflects the coach, if he’s successful so will you be. The Need for the Expulsion of All Illegal Aliens Essay -- Illegal Immi

American taxpayers spend billions of dollars annually on illegal immigrants (Camarota). Illegal immigrants pose many risks to the American public. These risks range from financial distress to terrorism. Therefore, the United States government should deport all illegal immigrants from its borders. Most importantly, illegal immigrants drain the American economy. The many costs of illegal immigration create an unmanageable debt for the American public. For example, legal Americans pay taxes to the government that help pay for various government programs and projects; however, illegal aliens in America typically do not pay taxes to the government but still use these programs. The costs of illegal alien’s use of these programs annually amounts to â€Å"more than 26.3 billion dollars† (Camarota), a debt that seriously hampers the United State’s economy’s ability to advance in the global market place. The Need for the Expulsion of All Illegal Aliens Essay -- Illegal Immi American taxpayers spend billions of dollars annually on illegal immigrants (Camarota). Freud’s Model of the Human Mind Essay

Nowadays, it is no doubt that human beings are suffering from depression and pressure in daily lives. However, most of the people are not aware of it. Psychologists have been focusing on how these repressed, and subconscious emotions play an active role throughout life since the early twentieth century. The ‘Father of Psychology’, Sigmund Freud, theorized a system of categorizing individual’s mental life into three parts: the id, the ego, and the superego. The id is the primitive part of a personality that respond directly to the human instinct; the ego is the decision-making component, and it develops to satisfy between the lust of the id and the external world; the superego is the preconscious part of the personality that deals with moral judgment. Many authors have incorporated this theory into their works by means of the characters. The novel Lord of the Flies, by William Golding, tells a story about the end of the innocence and the beginning of the savagery t hat a group of British children left stranded on a beautiful island after a plane crash, and they were immersed in freedom until the human nature took over. Golding utilizes Jack, Ralph, and Piggy who are the primary characters to interpret Freud’s concepts of this three types of human personality, respectively. First of all, Jack is the best concerned with the personality suggested by id. He represents the dark side of human nature, and he displays the id mentality through his violent actions. He had tried to maintain civilized before he started hunting. However, it does not remain constant. It fades soon while he is driven by his desires. The dictator becomes dominant in his personality. Following his desires, every time the first thing that comes to his mind is always to kill or hurt others. While Jack and his boys are managing to kill a wild boar, they begin dancing and saying, â€Å"[k]ill the pig. Cut her throat. Bash her in† (Golding 79). This chart indicates the unit desires among them and it also becomes a symbol of their savagery. It is obviously not a primary need but only meant for fun and pleasure. They are now driven by the innate desire for destruction. Furthermore, according to the ‘pleasure principle’, it seeks to avoid pain and unpleasantness in order to satisfy one’s biological and psychological needs. It is not bad enough to have desires but to act upon it. Jack does so to a mother sow, â€Å"Jack [is] on top of the sow, stabbing downward with his knife†¦the spear move[s] forward inch by inch and the terrified squealing [becomes] a high-pitched scream. Then Jack [finds] the throat and the hot blood spout[s] over his hands† (Golding 149). The imagery and action indicate that Jack does things without thought of any consequences, only for his own impulsive desires. Like the id aims to take over the thought in one’s mind without determining the needs of others rather than reality and morality. Secondly, Golding portrays Ralph as an embodiment of ego that makes sure to satisfy all the needs and wants of the id in a way that seems proper in today’s world, which means that ego not only interacts with conscious but also the unconscious mind. Ralph is the chief and one of the most influential boys in this little society. He constantly acts as a democratic leader that balancing between the id and superego. For instance, realizing Jack’s desire of being the chief, Ralph gives him control of the hunting team, â€Å"Ralph look[s] at him, eager to offer something. ‘The choir belongs to you, of course.’†¦The suffusion drained away from Jack’s face† (Golding 19). He cares about others’ feelings and does something realistic that is allowed by the society. At the same time, he fulfills Jack’s desire to be a leader to a certain extent. This reasonable action, which is controlled by the ego, also satisfies the urges of id in a so cially accepted way. Moreover, Ralph has a strong sense of responsibility. While he is complaining to Piggy that the other boys do not care about the importance of the fire going, he makes a confession, â€Å" ‘[s]upposing I got to like the others—not caring. What ’up become of us’ † (Golding 153). He is more conscious of the society rather than himself. Ralph is a neutral leader as he identifies the savagery of it and the morality of superego in order to come up with a realistic situation for the public. Like the ego represents the rational aspect of the mind, and maintains peace and stability. To end with, Piggy personifies the concept of superego to carry out the instinctual moral good most of the times. Golding represents Piggy as being more logically and intellectually mature than the others. Acting as the voice of reason, the superego inside his personality moralizes him as a sympathetic and sensible boy and guides him to choose what is morally right. While Jack leads the boys to make noise and rush, â€Å"Ralph [is] left, holding the conch, with no one but Piggy† (Golding 37). As the mob is full of noise and movement, Piggy does not follow Jack in overexcitement, rather he keeps calm and stays with the chief. His superego dominates him to maintain civilization. He displays consistent attention to societal rulings and feels like structure is the most important thing to the boys. Whatsmore, Piggy is willing to contribute to the society. He is â€Å"so full of pride in his contribution to the good of society, that he helped to fetch wood† (Golding 142). The moral goodness and devoted nature of Piggy come from his instinct human nature. Like the superego meets the ethical standards by which the ego operates. In conclusion,
